Language Tandem at ESN Aveiro

This semester ESN Aveiro has a new initiative for you:

ESN-Tandem!

Do you know what Tandem is?

Tandem language learning is a method of language learning based on mutual language exchange where each learner is a native speaker in the language the other wants to learn. The aim is to improve your language skills while making friends with someone from the language and culture you wish to learn.

If you are an Exchange student:
- Would you like to improve your Portuguese language skills and know things you didn’t have time to ask in the language classroom?
- Would like to make more friends among Portuguese people?
- Would like to learn other languages?
- Would you like to learn languages while meeting people and having fun?

Well then... ESN-TANDEM is just the right thing for you!

If you are a Portuguese student:
- Would you like to learn a foreign language with native speakers?
- Or are you a Portuguese student that just came back from your Erasmus and would like to keep practicing the language you’ve just learned?
- Would you like to learn this language while meeting people and having fun?

Don’t be sad... This initiative is also for you! Join ESN-Tandem to keep practicing the language with native speakers while meeting new people and having fun - keep the Erasmus spirit!!!

What are the advantages?

- You also get to know the culture and customs at first hand
- It is free
- It is a relaxed way of learning a language
- No exams
- A friend and a lot of fun are guaranteed!

How does it work?

You have just to fill in the form bellow and when the ESN team has enough participants we will set up a meeting and explain everything to you!!! In this first meeting we will introduce to your TANDEM Buddy and some steps to help you get started!!!
DEADLINES:
-The Portuguese students and full year exchange students should enroll until the 31st January 2012;
-The 2nd semester exchange students should enroll until the 15th February 2012. The ESN team will do the first meeting during the beginning of March 2012 to pair the students up and explain the project.

Who is responsible for this initiative?

This initiative is part of the wider European project “Social Erasmus” which aims at giving exchange students the opportunity to know the host culture better, encompassing multicultural information meetings, as well as ecological events and charity actions.
Language tandem is a joint initiative of the department of culture of the ESN Aveiro team and the department of languages and culture, specifically the office “For Línguas” (Gabinete de Formação e Línguas). The aim is to foster linguistic learning in informal settings, while promoting social ties among exchange and host students.

First meeting:

The first meeting will take place on March 14th, at 5:30, at CUFC (Centro Universitário de Fé Católica. This meeting is only open to the slected participants.
